On May 15, 2001, a locomotive pulled out of Toledo with 47 freight cars, thousands of gallons of hazardous materials, nearly 3,000 gross trailing tons, and not a soul on board. The engineer was "nearby" at the time, according to a CSX spokesman. The train went unchecked across three counties, for 66 miles, picking up speed as it traveled.
⢠Though they're not openly acknowledging their reported romance, Chris Pine and actress Olivia Munn definitely looked "on" at The Woods in Los Angeles. The casually dressed couple held court in the back of the dim dive bar, and spent the evening sipping cocktails and giggling. "They looked like they were having a lot of fun," said an onlooker. "They were really playful, and it seemed like they couldn't stop touching each other."
⢠Chris Pine, showing off his scruff during a business dinner with five guys - "total industry types," an onlooker says - at the Sunset Tower Hotel in L.A. After the meeting, the Star Trek star welcomed a distraction, turning his attention to a brunette diner as he walked out the door. The two chatted for bit in the doorway, then discreetly exchanged numbers before Pine left.
The NBA's decision to suspend Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw for Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinal was wrong. I can appreciate that the NBA has gone to such great measures to secure the safety of its players and fans, but punishing two players who came off the bench to check on the welfare of their teammate doesn't make sense. Yes, rules are rules, no matter how ineffective and rigid they are, but some rules need to be changed -- or at least allow for some discretion.
