I've often asked myself what I would do without a cell phone. In "Grand Theft Auto IV," just as in real life, the answer is simple: not much.
Despite all the media attention surrounding the two new gaming consoles -- Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii -- the hottest action game of the holidays is a Microsoft Xbox 360 exclusive.
I've always taken great pride in finding just the right holiday gift for people, but it's proving to be a challenge with those darn video game executives I've got on my list. I mean, these are the people who are in charge of the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. They know from good gifts!

Demos specifically created for the show are fairly polished, but most of the games on display won't hit store shelves until the holidays - if not another year or two.

Best Buy is walking a thin line with its latest in-store test -- one that might thrill cost-conscious consumers, but earn the ire of video game publishers and developers.
