SI.com: Power Rankings

The Golf Power Rankings are derived from an equation that takes into account wins, top 10s, cuts made, earnings, total driving, greens in regulation, putting average, save percentage, eagles and birdies. The scores range from 175 for No. 1 to 73.6 for No. 10, and go all the way down to single digits for the approximately 365 players ranked each week. After a brief hiatus, the golf Power Rankings return. During their absence, we decided to limit the rankings to PGA Tour players, and SI's statistical guru, David Sabino, worked with me to develop a mathematical formula we could use to determine our top 10. The new rankings incorporate 15 different statistical categories, some weighted to grant them additional influence, so it's more reflective of overall play than simply dollars earned.
